This small town consists mostly of a combined hotel, store and gas station, with a bed-and-breakfast a few miles away. The owners of the hotel, Jerry and Judy Santille, are great folks. They serve family-style dinners for hotel and outside guests, and serve burgers and sandwiches during the day. The hotel, with eight rooms and a large, screened-in porch, is a very pleasant place to stay and Judy's family-style dinners are great. More information about the hotel can be found at their website.
Also popular with birders and other visitors is the nearby McCoy Creek Ranch bed-and-breakfast.
The town itself doesn't offer much, though there usually is a pair of great-horned owls nesting around town. Common snipe can be heard winnowing above the flooded fields next to town, and sometimes black-chinned or rufous hummingbirds are seen at the hotel's feeders.
For the most part, though, the town is a pleasant spot to gas up and buy snacks after birding and photographing along Diamond Lane.
